By Anke Zimmermann, BSc, FCAH Upset TummiesNux vomica 30CH - as the name implies this can be good for vomiting, as well as just generally feeling sick from overindulgence. Think hangover. Child may feel grumpy and irritable. Too many sweets, snacks, alcohol, overeating, Nux vomica can come to the rescue.
2 pellets as needed up to three doses a day. Don't repeat if remedy is helping unless and until symptoms return.
One week ago my 19-year-old daughter Ariana had three wisdom teeth removed, one of them impacted. Wisdom tooth removal is something of a rite of passage for teens these days, especially if they've had braces and don't want their teeth to shift.
I had my own wisdom teeth removed when I was still in naturopathic college, about 27 years ago. At the time we had just learned about Arnica and other homeopathic remedies for use in surgery. I used Arnica 200CH and 1M with great success at the time, suffering very little swelling or discomfort, much to the surprise of a classmate who described quite an ordeal of swelling and pain after her extractions. Article Reprinted with permission from GreenMedInfo. Sub-headings and summary by Anke Zimmermann, BSc, FCAHAbout 170 years ago our ancestors forced the repeal of licensing laws which had created a monopoly over the practice of medicine for orthodox physicians. Ordinary people, farmers, artisans, tradesmen and others got together and forced politicians to act on their behalf. They were tired of bloodletting, and harsh medications like mercury compounds that ruined their teeth and weakened their bodies.
They opted for kinder and gentler alternatives with lower casualty rates, particularly the newly introduced homeopathy. They were impressed that tiny doses of medicine were able to cure cholera much better than the massive doses used by orthodox physicians. The Unbelievability of HomeopathyI totally understand people who are skeptical of homeopathy - because I used to be one of them. Homeopathic remedies are prepared via a long process of sequential dilution and agitation and in any potencies above 12 CH there are actually no molecules of the original substance left. Science has yet to discover an agreed-upon mechanism to understand how homeopathic remedies work in the body. I could not get my head around that at when I was introduced to homeopathy while in naturopathic college. This is the entertaining story of how I was converted from skeptic to professional homeopath 33 years ago.
Anke Zimmermann, BSc, FCAH Developmental Concerns Plus Urogenital and Sinus IssuesIf a child has a combination of developmental concerns as well as chronic sinus or bladder and reproductive system issues, it is suspected from a homeopathic point of view that he or she may have been affected by parental cannabis use and may benefit greatly from a few doses of homeopathic cannabis.
"A proportion of these children may be born with mental handicaps from mild learning difficulties to severe mental retardation and some of these children show many symptoms of chromosomal disorders, yet genetic testing will come back to be normal." [1]
By Anke Zimmermann, BSc, FCAH I was lying on the examination table, naked from the waist up.
“I can’t feel anything”, he shrugged. “Push up a bit higher. Now, push down towards the chest wall,” I told Dr. F as he was fishing around in my left arm pit. “Oh there, yes, hmm. Well, I’m not worried about it.” How many times had I heard those words over the past three years from Dr. F., beginning with a greenish-brown discharge from my left nipple in November of 2007? Bedwetting - also known as enuresis - is a common condition affecting more than 500,000 Canadian children age five and over. It can be an embarrassing and difficult problem for a child. Homeopathy and diet changes may help!
Over the years I have seen dozens of children with bed-wetting, also known as enuresis, successfully helped with homeopathy and occasionally through diet changes. Many years ago I saw a 9-year-old boy with chronic bed-wetting. Throughout the visit he sat alone in a corner of my office, did not interact at all and did not play with any toys. He looked exhausted and had large allergic shiners under his eyes. The parents reported that he loved milk and drank several glasses a day.
This trans-generational effect manifested in the form of disease predispositions, which he called 'miasms'. Effects in the same generation were called ‘acquired miasms’ and effects that were present in future generations were called an ‘inherited miasm’.
The idea of miasms has remained one of the most controversial propositions of Hahnemann, however, a new branch in genetics is throwing light on a possible mechanism to explain this theory. |
