Homeopathic Approaches to Sensory Processing Disorders
Is your child struggling with noisy environments, hates to brush his teeth and can only wear socks without seams? He or she may have a Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD). Sensory processing disorders are on the rise with one in 20 children now being diagnosed.
In my experience SPS are most likely related to toxins the child was exposed to or that the mother was exposed to during pregnancy or delivery. Parental exposure before conception of the child can also contribute, for example occupational exposure to heavy metals, pollution or chemicals. In my experience SPDs may also be sometimes be caused by emotional shocks and traumas.
Similarity to Autism
SPDs share a number of similarities with autism spectrum disorders. Pretty much all ASD kids have SPDs. The causes are the same. Children with SPDs also often have co-ordination problems, just like children on the autism spectrum. Their symptoms for the most part are simply less severe. Homeopathic care may help to address the causes of SPDs and improve symptoms. Homeopathy does not treat the SPD but the whole child and the underlying causes of his or her symptoms.
