A Boy with Autism Helped with Homeopathy

A ten-year-old boy on the autism spectrum not only dramatically improves behaviourally and socially with homeopathy,  but also becomes a math whiz, even though a year earlier his teachers declared that he would never be able to do math.

Aggression, language delays and lack of social interaction

James was a cheerful, 10-year-old boy who came under my care in December of 2011. Similarly to so many other children with autism his parents reported that he developed normally until about age two when language and behavioural issues were first noticed.

He started head-butting doors, hit and bit himself and others and became obsessed with vents and exit signs on buildings. At the age of four he received a diagnosis of Asperger Syndrome.

Presenting concerns included non-compliance issues at school, lack of social interaction with peers, hyperactivity, aggression and language delays as well as eczema. ​

James was born in a different country and received the Hep-B vaccine when he was only three days old and the TB vaccine (BCG) at 13 days old. The family moved to Canada when he was one and he was given some extra vaccines to catch up to schedule.

I started him on an MMR vaccine clearing with minor improvements. He seemed a bit calmer and easier to handle. Next was a DTaP-IP-Hib clearing and his interventionist commented that he seemed much calmer.

Development of Imagination

All along his eczema would flare up with each remedy given but became severe when we started the BCG clearing in June of 2012. At that point the family disappeared for about six months. I contacted them in January of 2013 to check in on James and learned that his eczema had much improved after some cortisone cream.

​But his behavioural issues had relapsed and he was more difficult to manage again. The cortisone may have set him back. We started the BCG clearing again, but more gradually. 

​Math Wiz!

In the spring of 2014 the father had some wonderful news to report: James was becoming a math whiz! He shared that only a year earlier the school had told the family that James would never be able to learn math, that is how severe his learning and focus issues were. And now he was excelling in math!

James had also discovered the joy of swimming. Previously he did not really participate in swimming lessons although he had been taken to lessons for over a year. Suddenly he seemed to get the hang of it, watched his peers and imitated them and just enjoyed himself. 

OCD Symtoms as Autism Improves

As his autism symptoms improved he developed OCD symptoms with rather severe repetitive finger-licking, tapping and throat clearing for a while which were managed with constitutional remedies and then cleared. This was an interesting observation as OCD is also an ever-increasing diagnosis in young children.

James was one of my first homeopatic detox protocol cases and was under my care until the fall of 2014, after which time the parents thought had had improved enough and decided to take a break from treatment.

This case nicely illustrates how much can be done for these youngsters; James has absolutely blossomed academically and socially and is a joy to be around. ​
