Babies in Homes with High Wireless Radiation Three Times More Likely to Have Developmental Delays

A new peer-reviewed study found that babies living in homes with high levels of wireless radiation — from Wi-Fi routers, cellphones, Bluetooth devices and nearby towers — were more than three times as likely to experience developmental delays compared with infants in lower-exposure homes.

Hi Levels of Wireless Radiation and Developmental Delays

A new peer-reviewed study found that babies living in homes with high levels of wireless radiation — from Wi-Fi routers, cellphones, Bluetooth devices and nearby towers — were more than three times as likely to experience developmental delays compared with infants in lower-exposure homes.

The study of 105 infants in India showed that babies in high-exposure homes were:

• 3.6 times more likely to have problem-solving delays
• 2.7 times more likely to show fine motor delays
• Nearly 3 times more likely to have social or emotional delays

Researchers noted that children’s brains absorb far more radiation than adults’ brains, making them especially vulnerable. High-exposure homes in the study measured 32.36 milliwatts per square metre (mW/m²) — far above what independent experts classify as safe.

Parents can reduce risk by:

• Turning off Wi-Fi at night
  
• Using hard-wired internet when possible
• Keeping phones and tablets away from children
• Avoiding carrying phones on the body
  

“This should alert the public to a dire situation,” said Dr. Robert Brown of the Environmental Health Trust. “People need to wake up.”
